  • A Fast Pace For Cabo Racers Continues

    Monday Morning Armchair Quarterbacking

The pace to the ice cold Pacifico's is impressive, with the two Mod 70's Argo and Orion
just over 100 nm to the finish after devouring over 800 nm since the start in light air Saturday afternoon,
the deciding factor of overall line honors may just be decided with light air decision making in the final few miles.

Meanwhile, David Moore's Santa Cruz 52' Westerly remains the lead dog in the monohulls at this point,
but Manouch Mashayedi's RIO 100' is coming up quickly, and is projected to pass before the finish. Westerly
still leads ORR E by a sizable margin and should be rewarded with class win for the efforts.

    Other handicap leaders are

    Badpak ORR-A
    Pyewacket ORR-B
    Vitesse ORR-C
    Nereid ORR-D

After 48 hours of building wind and seas, with gusts over 40 knots and waves approaching 7 metres, conditions are starting to moderate on Sunday with the IMOCA fleet turning south to squeeze between Cape Horn and the ice exclusion zone.

The wind is in the 18-22 knot range and the waves are 5 metres and decreasing. That's still plenty of motion on an IMOCA, making movement on board difficult, but slightly better than over
