  • That New Dock Smell

They have been very busy at the San Francisco Marina, with contractors in overdrive
since demolition began late last summer.

Most of the new docks are in yet there is still work to be done. According to Robbie Dean, Race Officer at the St. Francis YC, "All of the plumbing and electrical is yet to be run, and they are expecting to be fully optional by the end of January"

The new stouter, wider and deeper slips will allow larger vessels and with the dredging
work completed, deeper draft vessels will now enjoy access where in previous years
    it has been impossible.

Even the slips on the east end near the Golden Gate YC have been installed, yet the ones immediately in front of GGYC have yet to be replaced. There is still ongoing negotiations about the docks to the east of the GGYC, with sources indicating that the new configuration will allow 30 more slips in the area, but due to the narrowness of the channel, they won't be quite as long as those to the west. Many of the shorter tennants have been relocated to House Cove

A different type of adventure, As Ruben and Robbie join friends Tim and Ramie as they delve into setting up a 2nd homestead in Playa el Coyote in Baja California. They have arrived and begin a 6 month labor intensive working vacation... My primary role while traveling down Mexico-1 to our favorite place in the Baja is that of navigator. This may sound crazy, as there is really only one road down. I spend a lot of time scouting for vados (dips), ganados (cows), topes (bumps) and curvas ...
