  • Ocean Robotics Launches Waveglider Autonomous Submersible Today

Liquid Robotics of Sunnyvale,California launched 4 surfboard resembling autonomous research craft outside the Golden Gate this afternoon, completely reliant on wave action and solar power, and commanded via app's availble from an I-phone which will cross the entire Pacific Ocean gathering data 24/7 and 365 days a week!

    KTVU Report

Liquid Robotics' Waveglider is an autonomous submersible that explores the ocean using the power of the sun and waves. As Roger Hine explains at Bay Area Maker Faire 2011, the Waveglider can either traverse the waters on its own, converting the up-and-down motion of the waves into forward propulsion, or can be controlled remotely by a user with a GPS satellite link.
