    Dalton Speaks: Seeking Threepeat

So today, 17 August 2021 – being five months since we won the 36th Americas Cup and just one month from the Venue Announcement of the 37th America’s Cup – I think it’s a good time for an update. I’ve heard it said that: ‘Emirates Team New Zealand would be better losing the 37th America’s Cup in New Zealand, than winning it offshore.’ Of course these are comments that come from outside the team and one expects from people with some sort of vested interest. I still find it astonis...

  • When Oceans Collide

    When Oceans Collide

We all know that about 70 percent of the earth’s surface is covered with water, which amounts to 361,132,000 Km2. When you look at the map of the world, the oceans and seas are easily identifiable and you might think that they just flow into each other. It seems like there’s only one large ocean which has been given different names by the people living around the different parts of this large ocean. Well, this is not the case, in fact, the borders between the world’s 5 oceans are tremendous...

    Take A Letter Maria...

August 5, 2021 To supporters of our team, I am departing Japan today after absorbing the Olympic environment, observing our team in action and getting pointers from old friends who have been running teams in this game for decades. It has been a great opportunity for me as I embark on what I expect to be a seven-year mission of leading the U.S. Olympic Sailing Team back to the top of the podium. Our team prepared hard for the last five years, and raced with intensity and professiona...

If It's Not A Scottish Tidal Turbine, It's Crap!

SOURCE Orbital Marine Power yesterday launched its 2MW tidal turbine, the Orbital O2, in Scotland. It will become the world’s most powerful operational tidal turbine once it has been commissioned and connected to the European Marine Energy Centre in the Orkney Islands. The world’s most powerful tidal turbine Osprey Shipping Ltd managed the operation that transferred the 680-tonne tidal turbine from the Port of Dundee into the River Tay using a submersible barge. It was t...

    Cup Finds Itself Homeless?

    NZ Herald
By: Eduan Roos and Julia Gabel
No final decision has been made about where the next America's Cup will be held - but it is highly unlikely that it will be in New Zealand. Team New Zealand CEO Grant Dalton on Tuesday night told more than 400 members of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) that it was extremely unlikely that an agreement with the Government to stage the next event on Kiwi waters would be reached, after more than three months of negotia...

  • A Big Breeze Conclusion In Lagos
    by Photoboy

The GC32 Lagos Cup, the pre-Worlds for next month’s GC32 World Championship, concluded in big breeze. Despite the flying catamaran fleet heading out an hour early, by the end of the first race, the sea state was still relatively flat but with the wind averaging 22 knots and gusting to 27 it was ‘survival’ for some of the 10 teams, so PRO Stuart Childerley made the welcome decision to abandon racing.

Otherwise the historic maritime port on Portugal’s
