Here’s a debate we just started with ourselves: Team We Brake for Whales’ current program of a walk away, outperform and outlast, cookie-infused, victory-in-the-making is either the most R2AK victory...

The result was in doubt until the final moments of leg 6, with 11th Hour Racing Team along with Team Holcim-PRB and Team Malizia racing within shouting distance of each other during most of Sunday morning.

The final approach to The Hague required one short upwind section where the boats were crisscrossing within metres with each tack, but skipper Charlie Enright's 11th Hour Racing Team held their nerve and made the final turn south with a small lead they would manage...

SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. Coast Guard and Monterey Fire Department responded to a report of a possible fire on board the 50-foot whale watching vessel Pacifica with 43 people aboard off Point Pinos, Sunday.

A Station Monterey 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew put the disabled Pacifica in tow and brought it back to Monterey. There are no reports of injury.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Anyone who’s ever gotten married, taken the SATs, or gone to court knows that there is a big difference between the night before and the morning of. The night before there is a sleep buffer between you and the big uncertain. Day of? It’s right there, clock ticking louder and louder until it all of a sudden your whole life changes. Friday Fly By in Kiel attracts enormous crowds to cheer on IMOCA fleet

The recently completed 1st leg of the biennial Bermuda 1-2 Race is completed. The singlehanded portion which departs Newport R.I. and finishes 635 NM later in the tropical waters of Bermuda. The Bay Area's own Nathalie Criou sailed an impressive race, finishing 2's in class and 3rd overall in a fleet of 25, which were primarily men.

Aarhus start - IMOCAs are underway in very light conditions - VO65s racing to The Hague


1850 local / 1650 UTC: According to the Race Committee there is 'zero' wind on the race course area at the moment. Therefore the second lap is cancelled and teams will be required to pass through the start line and the 'gate' between marks 1 and 2 before they are free to proceed onwards to Kiel.

1830 local / 1630 UTC: It's slow but steady progress...

The smallest boat takes the Series again. The 2023 California Offshore Race Week has concluded with Marc-Andrea Klimaschewski's Dogpatch 26 Moonshine, the smallest boat in the fleet, earning the title of overall CORW winner. For the second year in a row, the little boat makes a big splash.

As the IMOCA fleet arrived in Aarhus (overnight 28-29 May), The Ocean Race was made aware that an incident took place during the stopover in Newport.
