After a quiet start in the early afternoon, the fleet of 28 IMOCAs has picked up the pace considerably in the middle of the Bay of Biscay. At the front of the pack, the leaders are still neck and neck, with 11th Hour Racing heading the TOR group (The Ocean Race) and Apivia setting the pace for the solo sailors. However, with the wind... -

Big Breeze For Big Boat Series Opener
SAN FRANCISCO, CA—The weather gods delivered plenty of get-up-and-go on the first day of racing at the 2022 Rolex Big Boat Series, running September 14-18 at St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, California. Morning conditions were moderate for the 76 boats gathered for the West Coast’s most competitive regatta, pressing their sails in 8-12 knots of breeze and flat seas. Conditions built to 20-22 knots raising white caps against the flood tide for the day’s second race,... -

A Cats Purr On Lake Garda
Epic day 2
2022-09-14
European Championships – Day two
Sometimes, you just get truly memorable sailing days. Epic can be an over used word, but this for the Open fleet, was one such day out on the azure waters of Lake Garda. Bright sun, the usual southerly 14-18 kts, a day set up for Champaign sailing, This was the second day of the European Championships and in the Open foiling fleet, Mischa Heemskerk NED 7 had won the first two races in convincing... -

The Stars Shine In Marblehead
An impressive run of form gave the race 2 win to Jorgen Schonherr (DEN) and Markus Koy (GER) who controlled the fleet from start to finish and end the day in 4th overall.
Headlining the leader board though are Italy’s Diego Negri/Sergio Lambertenghi, who now count two second places, to lead over Paul Cayard (USA)/Frithjof Kleen (GER), with Croatia’s Tonci Stipanovic/Tudor Bilic in third.
A postponed start, followed by a general recall saw racing get underway... -

A Major Milestone For The AC 40'
Auckland - 13th September 2022
The first AC40 off the production line was unloaded from its ship and transported into the Emirates Team New Zealand base in a typically understated fashion last week.
The boat represents a number of things for the Team and the Event. It will be centre stage for the Women and Youth America’s Cups in 2024, but prior to that it will be the first boat that Emirates Team New Zealand has sailed since race 9 of the 36th... -

Charal 2 Makes It's Sailing Debut!
Charal 2 Launches Into The Great Beyond!
Having started four Vendee Globes and finished two of them, once on the podium in third place, once after starting a second time nine days late, you would think that Jeremie Beyou had done enough. But not so.
The 46-year-old skipper from Finistere in northwest France is certainly nowhere near finished with the IMOCA class and nor with the Vendee Globe, and gets out of bed every morning driven by the goal... -

The Halcyon Days Have Gone Up In Flames
A 29 metre classic yacht named Halcyon has caught fire in Marina Gouvia, in Corfu.
According to local reports, the fire broke out around 4pm local time on board a 20 metre sailing yacht and then spread to several other yachts in the vicinity. Halycon was then towed out of the marina but the damage to the hull and weight of the water required to extinguish the flames caused her to sink.
Other yachts involved in the fire included a sailing catamaran and a speedboat.... -
