Maserati Endures Hard Landing While On The Hard
"A violent storm hit the area of our construction site this morning, near Marina di Carrara, causing huge damage. The wind lifted #MaseratiMulti70 taking it out of the invasion and threw it to the ground from meters away. We are still checking the extent of the damage suffered, tomorrow with a crane we will put the boat back on the saddles and we will start ultrasound analyses to find the points that have suffered injuries."
"These violent weather events,...Last edited by Photoboy; 08-18-2022, 12:49 PM. -

Aspire returns to 5.5 Metre circuit to dominate opening day of Swiss Open
The 5.5 Metre class is famous for going to nice venues, but no one was really prepared for how nice the first day of the 2022 Swiss Open turned out. Aspire (POL 17, Mateusz Kusznierewicz, Przemysław Gacek, Edward Wright) took three race wins to lead overnight with Caracole (SUI 214, Bernard Haissly, Nicolas Berthoud, Daniel Stampfli) winning the third race to sit in second on equal points... -

NEWPORT, RI (August 14, 2022) – On the third and final day of the 2022 Safe Harbor Race Weekend, Newport’s famous southwesterly sea breeze finally came calling, and it kicked in early enough for plenty of good racing to be had by 62 teams in 11 classes. Some of yesterday’s class leaders held their positions, if even... -

It’s amazing how $24 million (around R390 million) can be blown out of the water.
Italian car industry boss Paolo Scudieri had just received his brand new 43,7-metre Aria SF superyacht from the shipyard when things took a turn south.
The yacht was about to enjoy her maiden season in the Mediterranean when she went up in flames off the coast of Formentera, Spain, in the Balearic... -

Putting A Cork In The 2022 5o5 Worlds
The struggle of the 505 Worlds is over, we had wind….
Yesterday was a lay day and the plan was to catch up some races, but again there was no wind so the locals pulled out their boats and we cruised the harbour to Cobh and Cork.
Today, inshore, there was no wind but once we got outside the harbour, the fleet was greeted with a 12-14kn from the N/E. We had wind and we were going sailing. It was a gradient breeze and expected to wane a little as... -

Crash Course At Cowes
Short, action-packed races on the final day of Cowes Week 2022
http://www.cowesweek.co.uk
The last day of Cowes Week featured short, action-packed races in a solid north-westerly gradient wind, culminating in a spectacularly busy finish line at the Royal Yacht Squadron. A risk of the wind dying in advance of an afternoon sea breeze prompted a change to the race schedule, with three committee boats used, in addition to the Royal Yacht Squadron line, to compress... -

August 8, 2022
Pacific Cup race organizers are happy to report that Andy Schwenk (57, Point Richmond, CA) has been brought safely to land by a combination of Coast Guard, Air Force, commercial shipping, and assistance from a fellow yacht. A rapidly-spreading infection required the action.

It's a game of inches as the fleet works southwest towards the equator
Lighter conditions don't mean easier conditions as the IMOCA fleet finds itself constantly shifting gears, making sail changes and gybing as the teams zig-zag southwest towards the equator and the doldrums.
Every change in the breeze brings the potential for a sail change. Each move by the opposition brings a decision on whether to match or...-

25 January 2023, The Ocean Race, Start of Leg 2 in Cabo Verde ? Anne Beaug? / Biotherm

After being buffeted by strong trade winds for the duration of the short stopover, the waters off Mindelo, Cabo Verde were relatively calm on Wednesday for the start of Leg 2 of The Ocean Race.
The short stopover marked the first time The Ocean Race has visited west Africa and this island chain despite it featuring in the race course for all 14 editions as a tactical consideration on the leg from Europe down to the south Atlantic Ocean.

A surprise for local sailing legend, Hank Easom was unveiled recently at Brickyard Cove in Point Richmond a short time ago!
A little piece of Bay sailing history was made with the unveiling of the new Hank Easom Yellow Bluff permanent buoy.
1,000 lb bottom tackle will hold the buoy in position, combating the extremely strong currents along the Yellow Bluff shoreline.
