  • 2018 Kitefoil PCC's Take Flight In Long Beach

Twenty three hydrofoiling kiteboarders lined up on Saturday, October 6th for the Kite Foil Pacific Coast Championship. Organized by The US Sailing Center – Long Beach the racing kicked off in a clean southwesterly from 8 to 12 knots. Eight races were sailed in the normally smooth waters of Los Angeles Harbor however today there were some rollers pumping in from a southern hurricane.

Tight battles in the group were complicated by seaweed and jetsam that plagued the hydrofoils and their pilots. The course was setup as a trapezoid which mimics the course currently used at major IKA events. The windward leg of .6nm is just one minute thirty seconds long and the total race length of 2.65nm. with eight minutes total duration.

Racing continues on Sunday with 6+ races planned and a soft forecast. Denis Taradin leads the event with 23 points ahead of Will Cyr, Joey Pasquali, Evan Heffernan, and Nico Landauer as only one point separates positions two through five.
