Frank Slootman's Pacific 52' has been trimmed out at Cookson's Boatyard in Auckland
with the majority of the hardware installed. She is now getting the mast and running rigging installed
and should be in the water later this week. She will undergo some sea trials and adjustments before
being loaded on a container ship for delivery to the Bay Area!

                  The Hand Gets Loaded

The Cookson built Pacific 52 Invisible Hand all wrapped up and loaded in Tauranga, NZ
en route to Northern California where she will undergo some additional sea trial and crew workout and possibly
the Big Daddy before heading south for the Yachting Cup. The Pacific 52's have opted to doing 5 "buoy races", 3 in Southern California
                  and 2 in Northern California.

Yachting Cup in San Diego May 4-7
Offshore One Design Championships in Newport June 8-11
Long Beach Race Week June 22-25
                  Big Boat Series Sept 13-17
                  Pac 52 Cup Sept 28 0 Oct 1

According to class representative Julie Servais "We opted for 5 buoy races this year to compete in as a class. Some of the boats will compete in ORR format in offshore events, such as California Offshore Race Week, and the Transpac, and we fit the schedule to accommodate those options."

Julie notes that in addition to Fox, Rio 52, and Invisible Hand 52', that Bad Pak 52 is just nearing completion at Cooksons in New Zealand and should be stateside in time to compete in all 5 events. Additionally Vesper has the taller rig and is currently on the West Coast and expected to participate, and Spookie is expected to participate in some of the later events.

Ground crew 1 : "What do you think is under that plastic"?

Ground crew 2 : "One of them fancy sailboat yachts, I suppose"

Ground crew 1 : "Then why didn't they just sail it here"?

Ground crew 2 : "Might rip the plastic doing that"

Ground crew 1 : "Oh, that makes sense"

Tight Corners, narrow bridges, low underpasses....

                            The odyssey continues...

Couldn't the just lower it the container ship?

Never mind, just notice the keel on its side under the hull in the cradle.
