  • Latest Generation IMOCA CORUM L'Épargne Launched

CORUM L'Épargne, a major player in savings solutions, today announces the launch of the CORUM L'Épargne IMOCA in Port-la-Forêt. A new stage in the preparation of this new generation IMOCA which will start the Vendée Globe on November 8, with the skipper Nicolas Troussel, double winner of the Solitaire du Figaro, at the helm.

Begun more than a year ago, construction of the IMOCA CORUM L'Épargne is now entering an essential phase. After months of design and assembly carried out by the naval architect, Juan Kouyoumdjian, and the agitated Mer shipyard by Michel Desjoyeaux, builder and prime contractor, the boat is launched today.

The end of the site and the launching of the boat were carried out in compliance with health security measures (barrier measures, physical distance, reduction of teams present on site simultaneously, disinfection of equipment) imposed by the Covid pandemic- 19. Several structural, system and gauge tests will follow in the coming days.

The CORUM L'Épargne project incorporated a strong time constraint from its inception, requiring agility and adaptability, qualities which are all the more essential today. In accordance with official guidelines, Nicolas Troussel will now be able to make the boat more reliable and prepare with the help of several very high-level experts: Nicolas Lunven, Sébastien Josse and Thomas Rouxel.

Greg Evrard, team director: “Adaptation, self-denial and creativity are obviously essential to move forward in spite of everything, in a responsible manner, given the events we are going through. I'm proud of the way the barely formed team has done so far. This mindset is the minimum required to meet the challenge of the Vendée Globe. "

Nicolas Troussel, skipper: “This launch opens a new chapter. So far we have been in construction and organization. Attentive to the evolution of the health situation, I look forward to being able to navigate. I look forward to being able to pull the first edge and feel the first sensations of balance and speed. I know my team is entirely geared towards the success of the project. »

Cool looking, but is a round top on the bow really a good idea?
