around the sausage-triangle-sausage course, and estimated 8.2nm workout that challenged all, and for some,
just making it to the windward marks was overwhelming. 54 of the the 61 starters completed the course.

Super Sunday At The 14 Worlds

The high pressure that had dominated the landscape over the previous few days relaxed overnight
ushering a deep, compressed layer of cool air, stratus and wind, which lingered all day over the race
course. Wind at the start were in the high teens, low 20's and the crews were anxious to prove their mettle
on SF Bay, so much so, it took 3 tries to get the race off as 2 general recalls were enforced.

The Aussie's made a collect move up the standings, with Lindsay Irwin and Andrew Perry moving into 1st with a deuce in race 3
for a total of 13, 2 points ahead of Germany's Georg Borkenstein/Eike Dietrich who are now 2nd with 15.

6 Aussie teams finished in the top 10 for the race, which saw just 15 DNF's/DNC's compared to 1/2 the entire fleet the day prior,
meaning the fleet is either adjusting to the brazen conditions or the all night ibuprofen drips are working!

The Aussie's currently have 6 boats in the top 10 overall standings, Great Britain 4, and Germany 1.... The US sits just outside with
Mikey Radziejowski/ Evan Sjostedt in 11th and Paul Galvez/Cameron McDonald in 12th

                  About time!

Although it should be noted that the total US participation seems to be way down for being the host nation.

August 24th International 14 Worlds Update

                            Report:
                            2018 International 14 World Championships – Day 7

Foggy and light breeze on the San Francisco Bay for the penultimate race of the 2018 International 14 World Championships where the discard/drop came into force.

After a general recall, the sixth race started with the Australian skiff team, Mark Krstic/ James Lanati starting with the main contenders at the pin end but boxed in, where they took the risky decision of clear air and tacked off to go right. It paid off with them rounding the windward mark in first place and lead to the finish. This was a great turnaround for the Aussies after being holed in Race Five having to leave the course and retire.

The main battle ensued with Borkenstein/ Dietrich eventually taking second place from Daniel Holman/ Knight desperate to make a big points difference between themselves and the Partingtons. But the British fought their way after a bad start through the fleet taking place after place bringing themselves up to third and in a dominating position overall. Dad's arm around his son on the finishing line has repeated many times over the regatta.
