    A beautiful sunny day in Vilamoura delivered light breeze in the afternoon.
    The 81 teams sailed 2 races with a southerly 7-9 kt breeze.



    A beautiful sunny day in Vilamoura delivered light breeze in the afternoon.The 81 teams sailed 2 races with a southerly 7-9 kt breeze.In the Men’s fleet the New Zealanders Paul Snow-Hansen and Daniel Willcox moved to 1st place followed closely by the Spanish crew Jordi Xammar and Nicolas Rodriguez just 2 points behind, with Olympic champions Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan completing the top 3 another 2 points behind Xammar.In the Women’s fleet, the World Champions, Silvia Mas Depares and Patricia Cantero are leading with 11 points with a very consistent day.

    The French team of Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz dropped one place and are now in a close 2nd, followed by the Brazilians Fernanda Oliveira and Ana Barbachan which had a fantastic day wining both races.The Mixed fleet saw big changes in the leader board: Nitai Hasson and Saar Tamir from ISR kept the 1st place but are now followed by the bronze medallists of the 2021 World Championship from GBR, Amy Seabright and James Taylor 5 points behind, and Louisa Nordstrom and Trevor Bornarth from USA in 3rd place.

    For the 34 teams already selected to participate in the Olympic Games sailing here, this event is their last major test before the Games. Most teams are at the top of their game and ready to have a try at their Olympic dream.Live streaming starts tomorrow, taking us all the way until the Medal Race on Friday May 7.     CHALLENGING CONDITIONS ON DAY 3 OF 2021 470 EUROPEANS

    Day 3 of the 470 European Championship in Vilamoura.
    Two races sailed for the 3 fleets with the D Flag going up at 12:35 for the 3 fleets.

    “It’s really enjoyable to be back sailing with the 470 fleet, after over a year and half training in New Zeaand, it’s great to sail in Vilamoura” said Paul Snow-Hansen, the leader of the Men’s fleet.
    A Southerly breeze with wind ranging between 6-7 knots on race one, increasing to 9/10 knots for the second race of the day that was sailed with the OSCAR flag up.


    In the Men’s fleet the New Zealanders Paul Snow-Hansen and Daniel Willcox are holding on the 1st place after scoring two 4th places, and are now followed by the French crew Kevin Peponnet and Jeremie Mion which moved up after an excellent day scoring two 2nd places, with Mat Belcher and Will Ryan holding on the 3rd place with two 5th places today.








    The 2021 World Champions, Silvia Mas Depares and Patricia Cantero are still leading the Women’s fleet, having a 3rd place and a 16th –which is their discard so far, followed by the 2019 European Champions Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz only 3 points behind, after scoring two 3rd places today. The Swiss crew of Linda Fahrni and Maja Siegenthaler moved up after a steady day and are now in 3rd place.
    Nitai Hasson and Saar Tamir from Israel consolidated their leader position in the Mixed Fleet and are now 15 points ahead of the Germans Theres Dahnke and Matti Cipra, with the British team of Vita Heathcote and Ryan Orr now in 3rd.

    The Cream Rises In Vilamoura




    D Flag went up at 13:00 for the 3 fleets. Great sailing conditions in Vilamoura, with Races 8 and 9 sailed under 12/13Knots of wind.
    A sunny and warm day in Vilamoura (air temp. 27 C), with excellent breeze, allowed, again, to complete the 2 scheduled races.
    Sailors where back ashore just past 16:30, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the Portuguese spring.

    Paul Snow-Hansen and Jordi Xammar had a day full of action, commented just after racing today:“It’s good to be back racing, though competition with Jordi” said Paul Snow-Hansen
    “I still have 2 days to try to catch the Kiwis which are very strong in this fleet” commented Jordi Xammar.

    All races today were sailed with Oscar flag up, allowing extra room for teams to enjoy and test their skills. In the Men’s fleet the French crew Kevin Peponnet and Jeremie Mion climbed to the 1st place, only separated by 1 point from New Zealanders Paul Snow-Hansen and Dan Willcox, now in 2nd after taking penalty turns on the last leg of Race 9.









    The 2019 World Champions from Australia Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan kept their 3rd place ahead of Sweden’s Dahlberg / Bergstrom and Xammar Rodriguez from Spain, 2nd and 3rd European teams in the Championship.

    Nitai Hasson and Saar Tamir from Israel are still leading the Mixed Fleet but now with a much narrower lead of 4 points over the German Team of Theres Dahnke and Matti Cipra, which scored two excellent 4th places. Vita Heathcote and Ryan Orr from GBR are holding on to the 3rd place, 21 points behind the Germans.


    Silvia Mas Depares and Patricia Cantero, the 2021 World Champions, showing why they got the tittle, are still leading the French Team Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz, which lost 1 more point to the leaders and are now 4 points behind.

    Linda Fahrni and Maja Siegenthaler from Switzerland sailed very consistently scoring two 3rd places and keeping the 3rd place in the leaderboard.

    In the Men’s fleet, the Frech crew Kevin Peponnet/Jeremie Mion took first place from the New Zealanders Paul Snow-Hansen/Daniel Willcox, who are now second with one point of difference, and the Australian Mathew Belcher/Will Ryan who kept the third position.

    The Women’s fleet continued with the same positions, with the Spanish duo Silvia Mas Depares/Patricia Cantero in first with 29 points, followed by French Camille Lecointre/Aloise Retornaz with 33 points and the Swiss Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler with 39 points.









    In the mixed fleet, the positions are also the same as yesterday, with the Israeli Nitai Hasson/Saar Tamir in first place, but now the German crew Theres Dahnke/Matti Cipra closed the gap and are five points away from the first place, followed by the British crew Freya Black/Marcus Tressler.
