Donner Lake once again hosted the International 14 fleet from the bay area and Sacramento for an exciting two-day regatta. The sailors were delighted with the warm weather and 15 knot winds that make the lake such an exciting place to race these high tech skiffs. Seven races over the weekend gave these athletes a variety of conditions, mostly fast and furious. Spectators along the shores were thrilled to see these boats up close as they worked the wind shifts and reached speeds of 20 mph. Chris Rutz, our local competitor, with his crew Mike Radziejowski won the regatta in a closely contested duel with Richmond Yacht Club sailors Lawerence Henderson and Heiko Panther. Kirk Twardowski / Andrew Hamilton were 3rd, and Brad vanVechten / Geoff , 4th.
