Marina di Scarlino - The third stage of the Melges 32 World League international circuit ends with another exciting day, characterized by strong winds and sea, for the occasion hosted by Marina di Scarlino thanks to the joint organization of Melges Europe and of the Club Nautico Scarlino.
To close the event on the highest hail of the podium is Martin Reintjes' Caipirinha, elected World Champion not later than a month ago in the waters of Villasimius and already winner of the seasonal warm-up in July in Malcesine.
“Another victory full of satisfaction - commented Reintjes - where once again the consistency in placing was rewarded. Scarlino put us to the test in demanding conditions, but the crew was able to maintain concentration at all times. I want to thank all my guys and make an appointment with the rest of the fleet in Cala Galera, to compete for the title of the Melges World League in the end of season event ”.
On the podium, in second place, Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio with G-Spot, who found the preferred conditions for racing in today's strong wind and, with 2-1 splits, recovered important positions in the standings, up to obtaining the medal silver. Third place for Homanit by Gordon Nickel and Maximilian Stein, also winners in the Corinthian category.
Once the Scarlino event has been archived, the fleet heads towards the Argentario, where from 29 to 31 October it will play the fourth event of the Melges World League in the waters of Cala Galera. At the end of the three days of racing, the name of who will succeed Caipirinha in the roll of honor of the Melges World League winners will be determined.



Marina di Scarlino (GR), 25 September 2020 - Second day of regattas in Scarlino for the Melges 32 fleet, engaged in the third seasonal event of the Melges World League: today's conditions turned out to be as expected by the very demanding weather models, with wind in progressive increase to the point of leading the Race Committee to hoist Intelligence and therefore dictate the end of the tests at the end of the first regatta today.
Today's test has brought about several changes in the general classification, starting with the leader who now responds to the name of Caipirinha by Martin Reintjes: with the second place centered today, the crew of the new world champion Garda owner climb to the top of the classification , slipping to second place Homanit of Gordon Nickel and Maximilian Stein, seventh in today's test.
The victory of the regatta went to Edoardo Pavesio's Fra Martina, who thanks to the bullet centered today recovers important positions in the standings, climbing up to third place in the general ranking. The Russian Bogatyrs by Igor Rytov and Dumbovit by Alessandro Lotto and Flavio Campana complete the top-five.

Marina di Scarlino (GR), 24 September 2020 - The Scirocco sets the pace for the first day of racing for the Melges 32 fleet in the Gulf of Follonica and the youngest crew in the fleet, Jan Jasper Wagner's Homanit, immediately takes control of the ranking and Maximilian Stein.
Confirming the very strong growth seen since the beginning of the season, the young German crew today imposed its pace also thanks to tactical choices that were sometimes different from the rest of the fleet, but which proved to be successful, allowing them to gain the top of the ranking with partial by 3-1-4 and 8 points in total.
In second place, two points late, we find the newly elected World Champions aboard Martin Rentjes' Caipirinha, today authors of the first bullet of the Tuscan series (1-3-6 today's partials). Provisional bronze for the new entry in the Melges 32 fleet, Russian Bogatyrs by Igor Rytov, who after years of experience and success in the Melges 20 Class, this time decided to test himself with the larger Melges 32, one of the most established and competitive on the international sailing scene.
Winner of the third and final test of the day is Dumbovit of Alessandro Lotto and Flavio Campana, who with part times of 8-7-1 occupies the fourth place of the general classification.
In an event that can be divided into a maximum of eight races to be completed by Saturday 26 September, the Race Committee chaired by Maria Torrijo will bring the fleet back into the water tomorrow at 10.00, trying to anticipate the arrival of an important front. thunderstorm which is expected to bring winds of over 30 knots to the Tuscan coast in the afternoon.
