  • A Surprisingly Powerful Cold Front Wreaks Havoc On Harvest Moon Regatta




    The Annual slightly offshore 145 nm race from Galveston to Corpus Christi along the Texas Shore line
    was rudely interrupted Friday night and early Saturday morning as a more powerful that projected
    cold front descended of the water with 131 boats registered. 2 boats require USCG Rescue during the race
    and another vessel required a seasick crewmember to be airlifted to a helicopter. 15 boats withdrew before the
    start and another 18 DNF. Winds recorded in the mid 40 knot range and seas 4-12 feet were reported.







    Results

    Of boats that did complete the 145 downwinder, Peter Pattulo's Farrior F33RX Nelda Ray completed the ride in 11:00:54 but was corrected out by Gregory Way's
    Farrier F31R Try Me by 47 seconds. The fastest monohull was Forbes Durdin J 121 Bear which finished in 16:22:14 and corrected out ahead of all other monos racing ORC
