  • DID Anyone else see Artemis sailing in SF Bay yesterday?

I saw them coming from the golden gate bridge about an hour before sunset, sailed behind alcatraz to the infamous spot off TI years ago, then west again behind alcatraz again, then turned south and sailed home. as far as i could see with a very short lens (was there for the sunset) they foiled the whole time. these pixs are cropped about 96%

damn. now where and which were the webcams i used to spot those 45s before?

It is the custom cut boat. Not the stock 45.

      custom boat?

so this isn't the type used currently for the AC35? why would a team sail a boat that isn't the current allowed boat? but it foiled quite nicely. Thanks!!

You can see there is no tiller and has a wheel for a helm. The sides on the boat have been widened above the water line to allow for the crew to be in the boat not on top. This is one of the prototypes for the new cup boat using a AC-45 base boat. The wing is also not a stock AC-45 wing. Teams are allowed to develop and modify the AC-45 above the waterline but they are not legal for racing in the series.
