  • Moore 24 PCC's, AUG. 3 & 4

    Coming up this weekend, Moore 24 PCC's in Hood River Oregon. Yes Hood River, not Cascade Locks.

    The NOR -

    Moore 24 Pacific Coast Championships Hood River, Oregon August 3-4

    The Hood River Yacht Club welcomes Moore 24 sailors to the 2013 PCC’s in Hood River, Oregon.

    This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016 except as modified by the sailing instructions, and the Moore 24 Class Rules.

    The sailing instructions will alter RRS rule 40 to require adequate personal buoyancy.

    The sailing instructions will alter RRS rule 44.2 replacing the two-turns penalty with a one-turn penalty.

    Racing will be around temporary inflatable buoys and permanent navigation buoys on the Columbia River in an area approximately 10 miles east or west of the Hood River Marina. One or more distance races may be included.

    Approximately six races are scheduled. Please see the schedule below for details. Boats will be ramp launched and moorage is available at no cost.
    Camping on the grass next to the HRYC will be available Friday thru Sunday. (Details to come).

    A competitors meeting is scheduled for 10:30 on Saturday at the HRYC
    Sailing Instructions will be available online and at registration.
    Race registration form with entry fee will be due by 10am on August 3.

    Schedule of Events

    Friday August 2
    Practice race 6pm

    Saturday August 3
    9-10 am Late Registration. 10 am skippers meeting
    12 pm 2 buoy races followed by a short distance race
    5pm beers and bbq at the HRYC

    Sunday August 4
    12 pm 3 buoy races
    No start after 3pm
    4pm beers and trophies at the HRYC

    We will be organizing boat storage for boats staying for the Double Damn Race. Either at no cost or a small fee. The HRYC Moore 24 Fleet will be sponsoring a dinner party on Wednesday night August 7th after the beer can race for those staying for the Double Damn.

    Entry fee will be $50 per boat which includes (camping, moorage and racing).
    In order to pre-plan the event would each owner planning to attend give an RSVP
    A little disorganization goes a long way toward fun sailing.

    thinking of registering as "i don't know who i am"...

    it has more than "that guys" meaning and will make sense when you see who's on the helm

        9-10 am Registration and Weigh in at the YC
        10:30 Skippers Meeting at the YC
        12 noon First Warning Signal (3 races scheduled)
        4-6 Moore 24 Team SUP/Drinking races on C dock
        6:30 Hawaiian Dinner served at the YC. BYO as well there will be 2 keg's

        Sunday:

        12 noon First Warning Signal (3 races scheduled)
        No start after 3pm
        4pm Trophy Presentation on the lawn at the south end of the public ramp parking lot

            trending lighter for race days, forecast calling for high teens only. far cry from the mid 20's and up we saw in practice yesterday....top velocitek number after setting above the hatch 17.6

                  PNW Master Lensman Sean Trew fired off a bundle of frames from the 2013 Moore 24 PCC's hosted by the Hood River Yacht Club. Brilliant as usual. One wonders if one of the guys sailing in it can add some fancy words, like gybeset, hoist, windward, pin end and stuff...
