The 6th Annual Westpoint Marina Regatta will be held on Saturday July 5, 2014. This is an annual event sponsored by the Sequoia Yacht Club and the Westpoint Harbor Marina with on-going support from the Treasure Island Yacht Club .
New this year! The race is being run as a YRA Party Circuit race – with parties on Friday and Saturday, fireworks on the 4th followed by the 25-mile race. Racers who sign up early can stage their boat at Treasure Island Yacht Club on Friday, watch the fireworks from one of the best vantage points on the bay, and enjoy the annual Treasure Island Yacht Club Chili contest. Treasure Island Yacht Club will open on the 4th of July at noon and stay open until after the fireworks.
Then, after a continental breakfast at 9 am on Saturday, racers can join the Party Circuit Fleet to race around Alcatraz and rocket downwind with the flood tide to Redwood City, where Sequoia Yacht Club will be your host and Westpoint Marina will provide free berths or raft-up space at their 1,000 foot guest dock. Free transportation for sailors between the Westpoint Marina and the Sequoia YC will be available.
The fun continues into the evening with a grand escape to “Sequoia Island” in the “tropical” region of San Francisco Bay. Dinner will be followed by live music until midnight - performed by the RiP TiDEs, who are billed as the bay area’s premiere party band, playing a great dance mix of oldies and contemporary hits.
On Sunday, racers can enjoy a pancake breakfast at Sequoia Yacht Club and still catch the ebb current back to the north bay. Registration is via Jibeset Jibeset.
