H.L. Enloe's Orma 60 Mighty Merloe sailed the 134* nm course from Newport Harbor to San Diego offshore course in 7:45:42,
in the 6th running of this So Cal Classic, eclipsing the record set in 2013 by Peter Tong's SC 70 OEX of 11:05:28

"The 134* nm course challenge is to navigate offshore from Long Beach Harbor, transit the deep blue ocean swells and genuine sea breezes to the west of Santa Catalina and San Clemente Islands, and finally negotiate various points of sail to the finish off San Diego’s Point Loma.
The 2015 Islands Race marks the 6th year of this well-attended event developed in partnership between San Diego Yacht Club and Newport Harbor Yacht Club. The successful long-term cohosting of this race has proven to be a positive example of yacht clubs working together to promote, advance and improve the sport of yacht racing.
The Islands Race is a great ‘sprint’ distance race with outstanding hospitality at two world class yacht clubs. Yellowbrick race tracking for all boats and social receptions at both ends are included and make for a great race experience! And… it is an outstanding opportunity to shake out new sails, inventory safety gear and practice offshore crew skills prior to the NHYC Cabo race and SDYC Vallarta race... all without leaving US waters."

The overall winner was Chris Heman's Rogers 46' Varuna correcting out over fellow PHRF 1 boat the TP52 Bolt.
