It's a good thing, I believe. Let the separate interests find some common ground.

The news that the Lucas Museum may be the anchor attraction will certainly help the planned continuous ferry service,
which is key in the big picture of things.

How big is the hoist at TI?

      Can anyone use it?

The are two hoists. Both are located at the Treasure Island Sailing Center, and are reserved for tenants and programs of the Center. Not sure if/when they might let others use it. I think they open up the hoists for outside events, not sure about individuals. The weight limit on the bigger hoist is 2,500 lbs.

I note that Brock told me that the Alameda Marina had plans to yank out the smaller-boat East Basin and replace it with 40 foot slips. You can't knock 'em, the basin is only 1/4 full and all the boats left can be moved over to the other fingers, easily. They'll rent 40-foot slips. They don't rent 28 foot slips. That said, I'm not sure the Bay needs a "mega marina" right now. Once you get away from the Central Bay, there are slips available. Need a 40 foot slip? Try Redwood City, the Westpoint Marina has a ton of 'em. Coyote Point has big slips available.

The south bay is fine and all, but it is a pain in the ass to bring your boat up to the central bay where all the action is.
