Predict Wind forecast tables for Saturday. Avg winds on top, gusts on bottom...

          Treasure Island

          The Bothers

Wind prediction appears in following order:
          PWG
          PWE
          GFS
          ECMWF

"PWG stands for the PredictWind weather model that uses the NCEP global initial conditions for the model run and PWE is the PredictWind weather model that uses the ECMWF global initial conditions, both of these sources enable us to run our own worldwide weather models, we are the only company in the world that produces these forecasts.

In addition we also provide the GFS (Global Forecast System) from NCEP as this is used by most other weather websites/apps as well as the ECMWF forecast from ECMWF (European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) that is highly regarded by Meteorologists and top Navigators around the world.

Comparing the PWG/PWE forecasts allows you to gauge the confidence level in the forecast, and adding the GFS/ECMWF forecasts takes your confidence to a new level. Generally the unique PredictWind model, and its higher resolution will be more accurate, but with all 4 forecasts you can have greater confidence in your forecast to make the best decision.

Is this still the plan? It's an awfully skinny patch of water for 350 boats to slip through, particularly if the wind is light and the current is strong

At the skippers' meeting tonight, Rick (R/C) said it's presently still the official plan. He continues to await CalTrans approval to widen it to what we had last year = pass under anywhere west of the E2 pillar on the new bridge. He stated he is "99% sure" he will get approval in time for the race (so check Jibeset and your e-mail). There were updates to the SI's earlier today with the proposed wider passage, which would make it the same as last year.

I hope that's clear (despite the beer I drank at the meeting).

any algorithms that would include the extra boost in the ebb with the inflow from delta and south bay?

Debris flooding the bay, keep an eye out!
If (when) we run into floating debris Saturday I sure hope it's the fully stocked refrigerator they mentioned in that video. I'm bringing some extra tow lines & fenders so we can drag it behind our boat. in keeping with the positive vibe of the 3BF if you see us out there feel free to help yourself to our fridge, just don't take the last beer.

I would recommend tossing out any chocolate milk you might find in that refrigerator.

                            Some selects from today.

I believe a Moore 24 that went counter clockwise might be the big winner...

I feel for the crew working the racedeck... christ, what a stampede.

Full write up and more pics later

Nearly every year I watch as people blatently go right along the Coast Guard dock at TI. This year it was a total shit show with so many going along the dock it made my blood boil. Must have been well beyond 10% if not 20% of the entire fleet fouled themselves out. Didn't like hearing all the calls from the Coast Guard regarding our racers. Might be time to become the "Singlehanded" Sailing Society again.
