The vessel in question a Martin 242 Bad Wolf sails regularly out of the King Harbor YC and was participating in a twilight series event. From what we gather winds were light at the start and ramped up as race progressed... It appear they that attempted to reduce sail and things went south in a hurry... If you watch the video closely, you will notice the person forward was trying to unjam the jib sheets...

Bad Wolf's Bad Route
Taking a closer look at the route that Bad Wolf would have been taking after sailing in the
Twilight Series at King Harbor YC, one can get a better appreciation of the pickle
the boat and crew were in once things went south, so to speak....
With NW winds that had jumped from a benign 10-15 knots at the beginning of racing that evening,
then ramping up to 25 -30, it appear the crew attempted to reduce sail area outside the harbor,
and had issues with main and while trying to resolve that mess, the flogging jib got knotted up
and could not be fixed in time for it to provide any headway. With a sizable westerly swell pushing
the boat towards the pier, they were screwed... Not sure where the outboard might have been at this point,
or if they could have even got it started in time...
