Northen Century Race Starts in a Week

The Anacortes Yacht Club's Northern Century Race is from August 18-20 this week

A couple of things to note..

1) There won't be much moon... good for shooting star viewing

2) A small flood will be running at the start, which should help us get "unstuck" at the start

3) They've adjusted the midpoint finish to be crossing latitude 48 degrees 48 minutes. This is an improvement, I think... offers more opportunity for creativity on the course, and less likely for you to wind up stuck just south of the finish

4) Also adjusted is the finish line, which now extends past the R2 mark.. this should avoid someone getting stuck just at the finish

Less than two days to go.. Not too late to register!

Wind forecast looks great, with a significant southerly on Friday night, should result in a long spinnaker run under (shooting) stars, a reach on Saturday, a beat up Haro Strait, and reaching to the finsh.

I am looking forward to seeing a double handed crew on Rage, the Wylie 70, launch their chute.
